While CBT aims to explore the triggers, thoughts, emotional and behavioural aspects of a given problem. EMDR does not focus of discussion of the problem in detail, doesn't necessarily involve work outside of sessions and is considered to produce improvements over a shorter timeframe. However, both have their benefits and outcomes duration of both therapies are in dependent of complexity of the problem.
