Professionalism
What is a cognitive behavioural therapist? Are they qualified? And who regulates the profession? A CBT therapist generally has a qualification to at least Post Graduate Diploma level at an educational facility that adheres to the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP) minimum training standards (Click button below).
Professionalism and quality
As an accredited CBT therapist, Registered Mental Nurse (RMN) and counsellor I am committed to meeting and maintaining the professional standards of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP) and the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC). I offer integrity and transparency in supporting you to make the life changes you seek in a safe, supportive and professional way.
While achieving academic and professional qualifications is important. People seek therapy to make life changes and "feel" better.
Therapy measures improvement and quality, by feedback of the experience and scientifically, using questionnaires.
Understanding your expectations of therapy and what you want to achieve at helps you to know if it has been beneficial for you
I frequently meet with an experienced therapist to discuss our work (Clinical supervision). The aim of clinical supervision is to ensure that you remain safe, and that the treatment you receive is appropriate and effective. The process is confidential.

Complaints
I am confident that you will have a positive and rewarding experience in therapy. However, if you are unhappy with any aspect of your CBT treatment I hope you would be able to discuss this with me so that we can resolve any issues that may be of concern to you. However, the BABCP operates a complaints procedure. If you would like to pursue CBT therapy I will provide information in a therapy contract that I would ask you to sign.
